It’s International Tea Day today! and Tea Bird Tea is celebrating 1 year supporting Fugee School with their #1myrcharite...

Tea Fact: Did you know that the British drink 165 million cups of tea per day? That’s 60.2 billion cups per year! That’s a LOT of teas.

The British culture and society is often synonymized with tea drinking. Think British people, think tea. But did you know that in the United Kingdom, the drinking of tea is so varied that it is quite hard to generalize. It is not true that the British only take milk with their teas. In fact, they also take their teas black, with lemon or with the addition of sugar.

Today also marks our 1-year anniversary with Fugee School. Fugee School is co- founded by our Tea Bird Tea ambassador, celebrity, model and TV host Deborah Henry who also happens to be an avid tea drinker. Our collaboration with Fugee has led us to set up #1MYRCHARITEA where Tea Bird donates RM1 to the school with every packs sold.

What is Fugee School? The founders of Fugee School believe that every child be it a refugee child or a Malaysian child, has the right to learn in an environment free from discrimination and exclusion. This has been their mission since their incorporation 9 years ago.

‘A collaboration between Fugee School, Tea Bird and Alice Smith International School’ where the kids were given free reign to design new packages for the Tea Bird Tea range. 13 designs were picked, and the kids’ artwork were displayed in 30 stores around KL which featured colourful bird designs. Fugee has come a long way since then. Earlier this November, Fugee launched Fugee-lah, a collaboration with Frankitas, a fashion line known for their chic ethnic fashion items. Under the mentorship of Frankie, the students were taught how to hand make their own jewellery. These jewellery pieces are sold by Fugee-lah enabling the school to be self- sustaining. They believe that education is the key that can open doors to a brighter future and this is essentially what Fugee-lah has done.

We are honoured to be able to be a part of what Fugee School stands for. It is Tea Bird’s shared purpose with Fugee School to support and give back to the local community as without good community, we cannot thrive as a society.
