Even though not technically teas, tisane teas are herbal teas which formed a major part of the tea world. It is the infusion or decoction made from a plant other than Camellia sinensis--the plant true teas (green tea, black tea, oolong, etc.) are made from. They are caffeine free and can be served hot or cold.
Using Teas in Your Food
To much leftover loose leaves lying around? We bring you ways to enjoy your teas else-way other than drinking it! Check out this recipe!
Every so often we buy quality loose leaf teas, only to drink them for a week and then we forget about them. If not kept properly, they might just get mouldy, which is a waste. Here at Tea Bird Tea we are serious about wasting our resources, that equally goes with our teas too.

Tea Bird Tea House turns grow-your-own-herbs venture into tea business
Growing up around Irish food philosophies, Ashleigh Cotterill was amused by friends who swore by supplements and protein powders. Although she leaves each to his own, she does believe in the medicinal properties of food. Herbs and spices have been used for healing by cultures around the world across civilisations and modern understanding of their curative properties backs this practice.
The Irish-born marketing executive and artist began actively propagating this in 2014 after her son was born, selling herb and vegetable seeds under the Balcony Bloomer brand in farmers’ markets around Bondi and the Gold Coast while living in Australia. Balcony Bloomer carried herbs such as basil to lower blood pressure, coriander to reduce inflammation in the joints, and mint and chilli to increase metabolism. As sales increased, so too did customer requests and subsequent ideas.

37 Ways to Drink Turmeric
If you’ve ever been interested in the idea of replacing medicine with food, look no further than your spice cabinet. That ground turmeric that you use only in the occasional curry? It holds powers that will trump what’s in your medicine cabinet.
Turmeric is mostly known for its anti-inflammatory properties. This means that a few dashes of the spice will not only help with the inflammation that you can see, like swelling and rashes, but also with inflammation that takes place inside the body, like leaky gut syndrome.
6 Simple Ways to Reduce Water Retention
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is an herb that has been used as a natural diuretic in folk medicine for a long time (11).
Natural diuretics may help reduce water retention by making you pee more often.
In one study, 17 volunteers took three doses of dandelion leaf extract over a 24-hour period.
They monitored their fluid intake and output during the following days, and reported a significant increase in the amount of urine produced (12).
Although this was a small study with no control group, the results indicate that dandelion extract may be an effective diuretic.
Bottom Line: Dandelion may help reduce water retention, especially when consumed as a leaf extract.

Balcony Bloomer Grow in the tin herbs
- Open the tin and remove the seeds
- Add water to the pellet and let pellet grow
- There is a hole in the top of the pellet make sure this is facing up
- Pour seeds into the hole and cover with soil from the pellet
- Set in the sun
- Make sure you keep the pellet moist by adding a few teaspoons of water everyday
- After 5 days you see some sprouts growing out of the pellet
- As the plant grows its good to let it have 4-6 hrs of sun everyday but make sure the area is partly shaded so your seedling doesn't get burnt in the hot Malaysian sun.
- After 20-30 days you will be able to repot you seedling by dropping the plant and its soil pellet straight into a larger pot with soil.
- You can start snipping your herbs to add to your meals everyday.

The Weightloss Connection with Oolong Tea Bird Tea
The Weight Loss Connection - article from Teas Etc
The two main ways to reduce food related body weight are; increase energy expenditure (EE) and inhibit the absorption of nutrients, including fat and carbohydrates. Caffeine is a stimulant so it is widely accepted that the caffeine in tea increases metabolism, hence increasing EE. So the question becomes, is it only the caffeine or are other compounds in the tea contributing to that increase?

Fugeelah Handmade Jewellery by the Students from Fugee School #fugeelah
I remember asking Deborah Henry Co-Founder of Fugee School so whats next how is the school going to continue? She said - this is it - it's here - its a school offering children education we have to keep it running...
Charity is an interesting area - how many times can you rely on subscriptions, or kind hearted philanthropists and wealthy supporters travelling around handing out cash to pay the bills?
The answer is you can't - there needs to be some understanding of creating something that can pay for itself otherwise there is no growth, for the students, the people running it - this school is changing peoples lives everyday and thats a great thing but creating a school which empowers, educates and creates enterprise amongst its students to enable them to come together and create Fugeelah well that is truly the GREAT achievement here - awesome job all round.
Week 7 total weightloss 4 kilos Ashleigh Cotterill uses herself as the litmus test for Tea Bird Tea
#RUIHINTHECITY Event for CNY2018 Bangsar
Here is the recipe for the flavour of the day its super easy to make at home!
1 Hibiscus Tea Bird Teabag plus 1 Vanilla Tea Bird Teabag
1 litre boiling water - you can make 2 litres but its up to you on the strength of the taste you would like..
1 sliced orange - can leave peel on or off as you prefer
Honey or Tea Bird Tea Syrup to sweeten as desired
- We like to cook in a saucepan so you can boil up the orange and get that extra layer of taste.
- If you are using our loose leaf blends you can add both blends into 1 teapot at the same time using 1 teaspoon of each.
- Add boiling water
- Let brew for 10-15 mins - there are no tannins in these teas so they will not taste bitter when left to steep.
- Pour into saucepan with your sliced orange
- Simmer until orange is saturated with the tea blends
Serve hot and add honey or Tea Bird Tea Syrup to sweeten optional
Serve cold - left cool then place in a jug in the fridge - the taste is strong so you can happily add as much ice as you like
